Privacy Policy

1. Our Commitment: You Are in Control

Our Space (“we,” “us,” “our”) is a relationship companion app that helps couples communicate, organize their lives, and strengthen their relationship with the help of AI.

Your privacy is central to how we built this app. We only process data for the features you explicitly enable. You can turn any feature on or off at any time in your Settings, and we will stop processing data for that feature.

We do not sell your personal data. Ever.

2. Account Data We Collect

To create and maintain your account, we collect:

  • Email address — for login, password recovery, and essential account communications
  • Display name — shown to your partner within the app
  • Full Name — for account management
  • Password — stored as a secure hash; we never store or have access to your plaintext password
  • Device token — to deliver push notifications to your device
  • Device type and app version — for compatibility and troubleshooting
  • Location (city, country, timezone) — for timezone-aware features, activity recommendations, and proper app behavior

This data is required to use Our Space and is collected regardless of which features you enable.

3. Feature-Based Data Processing

We process additional data only for the features you activate. Each feature can be independently enabled or disabled in Settings > Delpha Behavior and Skills.

3.1 Partner Messaging (Core Feature)

When you send messages to your partner through Our Space:

  • Messages (text, voice, photos, videos) are transmitted and stored on our servers
  • Voice messages are transcribed to text to enable search and accessibility
  • Media files (photos, videos) are stored securely in cloud storage
  • Message history is retained so you can access past conversations

Note: Partner messaging is a core feature of the app and cannot be disabled independently.

Shared content ownership: Content you place in shared spaces (shared folders, shared calendar, partner chat) is accessible to both partners while it remains there. Either partner can remove content they originally shared — for example, if you shared a photo, you can delete it from the shared folder, but your partner cannot. If you delete your account or the relationship ends, your partner will retain access to existing shared assets at time of separation or account closure.

3.2 Delpha Chat

Toggle: Delpha AI Chat (on/off)

When enabled, your messages in the Delpha Room are processed by AI to generate helpful responses. The AI uses conversation context to provide relevant, personalized guidance.

When disabled, Delpha will not send proactive messages or generate AI responses.

3.3 Delpha Personal Assistant

Toggle: Personal Assistant (on/off)

When enabled, Delpha can create tasks, events, reminders, and perform actions on your behalf based on your conversations.

When disabled, Delpha can still chat but cannot take actions or create items for you.

3.4 Relationship Coach

Toggle: Relationship Coach (on/off)

When enabled, Delpha analyzes conversation patterns over time to provide relationship insights and periodic reports. This involves:

  • Extracting topics and themes from your conversations
  • Detecting communication patterns
  • Building a rolling memory of recent interactions (typically a 3-day window with daily summaries)

When disabled:

  • No conversation analysis occurs
  • No patterns are detected or stored
  • No relationship insights are generated
  • Existing AI memory stops being updated

Important: Delpha is an AI assistant, not a licensed therapist or counselor. Relationship insights are generated by AI and should not be considered professional advice.

3.5 Activity Recommendations

Toggle: Activity Recommendations (on/off)

When enabled, Delpha provides personalized activity and date suggestions. You may also receive curated offers from select sponsors, delivered within the app.

No personal data is shared with sponsors. Offers are delivered by us based on general preferences, demographics and regional locations — sponsors never receive your identity, messages, relationship data, or your contact information unless expressly shared by you or your partner (for example if you accept a restaurant discount offer).

When disabled, Delpha will not proactively suggest activities or present sponsor offers.

3.6 Flame Detection

Toggle: Flame Detection (on/off) + Sensitivity Level (High / Medium / Low)

When enabled, messages you compose are analyzed for tone before sending. If a message may escalate conflict, you receive a private warning — your partner never sees this analysis.

When disabled, no message analysis occurs before sending.

4. Privacy Between Partners

Our Space is designed for couples, and by nature the app encourages openness and sharing between partners. Most features work best when both partners engage openly. However, we recognize that even within a relationship, some things are personal.

What is shared with your partner

  • Messages you send in partner chat are visible to your partner (as expected)
  • Shared calendar events that you mark as shared are visible to both partners
  • Shared documents, tasks, lists, media and web links are accessible to both partners
  • Delpha Room conversations — when both partners participate in a Delpha Room session, both can see all messages in that session, including Delpha’s responses

What is kept private

  • Your individual conversations with Delpha (outside the Delpha Room) are private and not visible to your partner
  • Calendar events you choose not to share remain private
  • Documents you mark as private are not visible to your partner
  • Flame Detection warnings are shown only to you — your partner never sees that a warning was triggered
  • Your individual settings and preferences are not visible to your partner

AI and partner privacy

When enabled by you, Delpha has access to conversations from both partners in order to provide relevant, context-aware guidance. While Delpha is designed to respect the boundaries of individual conversations and not reveal private details from one partner to the other, Delpha is an AI and we cannot guarantee that information from your private conversations will never surface in shared contexts. The AI may draw on patterns or context from individual conversations when generating responses in the Delpha Room or other shared spaces.

If you need absolute confidentiality for sensitive matters, we recommend using a service outside of Our Space for those conversations. We design our AI to be respectful of boundaries, but no AI system can offer the same guarantees as a conversation that never enters the platform.

5. Additional Privacy Controls

In addition to the feature toggles above, you have these controls in Settings > Privacy:

5.1 Share Anonymised Data (Opt-In)

Toggle: Share anonymised data (on/off)

When enabled, you allow us to use anonymised, non-identifiable usage data to improve the app. This data cannot be traced back to you or your partner.

When disabled, we do not collect usage analytics from your account.

5.2 Email Notifications

Toggle: Email Notifications (on/off)

Controls whether you receive non-essential email communications. Essential account emails (password reset, security alerts) are always sent regardless of this setting.

6. Data We Always Process

Some data processing is essential to operate the app securely and cannot be toggled off:

  • Authentication — verifying your identity when you log in
  • Push notifications — delivering message alerts and call notifications to your device (you can disable notifications in your device’s system settings)
  • Error monitoring — anonymised crash and error data to keep the app stable. No message content is included in error reports.
  • Security — login attempt monitoring, encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)

7. What We Do Not Do

  • We do not sell your personal data — not to advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else
  • We do not display ads — sponsor offers (when Activity Recommendations is enabled) are curated and delivered by us, not by ad networks
  • We do not track you across other apps or websites — we do not use advertising identifiers or participate in cross-app tracking
  • Our AI providers do not train on your data — see Section 8

8. Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party service providers to operate Our Space, including cloud hosting, push notification delivery, error monitoring, and AI processing. Our use of these services is governed by their standard terms of service and data processing terms, which restrict how they may process your data.

AI Processing: When AI features are enabled, your messages are processed by third-party AI services to generate responses. Under their standard API terms, these providers do not use your data to train their models. We currently use Anthropic and OpenAI AI models exclusively, though our choice of AI providers may change over time. Any changes will be reflected in this policy.

We do not share your personal data with any third party for their own marketing or commercial purposes.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

Active Account

  • Messages and media are retained as long as your account is active
  • AI memory maintains a rolling window of recent conversations and is refreshed regularly

Account Deletion

You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings > Account > Delete Account. When you delete your account:

  • Your profile and account information are permanently removed
  • Your individual data (private conversations with Delpha, personal settings, AI memory) is deleted
  • Your device tokens and notification registrations are removed
  • Content you shared with your partner (messages, photos, documents) remains accessible to your partner — just as with any messaging platform, shared content belongs to both parties.
  • This action is irreversible

Anonymised Data

Anonymised, aggregated data that has already been stripped of all identifying information may be retained after account deletion, as it cannot be linked back to you.

10. Data Security

We implement reasonable and industry-standard measures to protect your data, including:

  • Encryption in transit — all data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
  • Secure password storage — passwords are cryptographically hashed; we never store plaintext passwords
  • Access controls — database access is restricted and monitored
  • Parameterized queries — all database operations use parameterized queries to prevent injection attacks
  • No secrets in logs — sensitive data is never written to application logs

No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal data using commercially reasonable measures, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify affected users and relevant authorities as promptly as practicable, and within timelines required by applicable law (including within 72 hours where required by GDPR).

11. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Delete your data — permanently delete your account and all associated data
  • Withdraw consent — disable any feature toggle at any time; processing stops for that feature
  • Opt out of anonymised data sharing — toggle off “Share anonymised data” in Privacy settings

If you are located in the European Union, you have additional rights under GDPR including data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the CCPA including the right to know what personal information is collected and the right to request deletion.

12. Children’s Privacy

Our Space is designed for adults in romantic relationships. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If you are under 18, please do not use this app. If we become aware that we have collected data from someone under 18, we will delete that data promptly.

13. Disclaimers and Limitations

AI-Generated Content

All responses from Delpha are generated by artificial intelligence. While we strive to provide helpful and relevant guidance, AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate. We do not guarantee the accuracy, reliability, or suitability of any AI-generated response.

Not Professional Advice

Our Space and Delpha are not substitutes for professional relationship counseling, therapy, mental health services, legal advice, or medical advice. Delpha is not a licensed therapist, counselor, or healthcare provider. If you are experiencing relationship distress, domestic abuse, mental health challenges, or any situation requiring professional help, please contact a qualified professional or emergency services.

No Guarantee of Privacy Between Partners

As described in Section 4, while we design Delpha to respect boundaries between individual and shared conversations, we cannot guarantee that AI-generated responses will never reference or be influenced by information from your private conversations. By using AI features, you acknowledge this limitation.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Our Space, its operators, and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from:

  • Your use of, or inability to use, the app or any of its features
  • Any actions taken or decisions made based on AI-generated content or relationship insights
  • Unauthorized access to, alteration of, or loss of your data, despite our commercially reasonable security measures
  • Security incidents, data breaches, or cyberattacks affecting our services or third-party providers
  • Any interruption or cessation of the service

User Responsibility

You are solely responsible for:

  • The content you share within the app
  • Any decisions you make based on AI-generated suggestions or relationship insights
  • Ensuring that your use of the app complies with applicable laws in your jurisdiction
  • Obtaining your partner’s consent before linking them to your account

Service Availability

We provide Our Space on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or secure access to the app. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature at any time.

14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

This Privacy Policy and any disputes arising from your use of Our Space shall be governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec, Canada. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will:

  • Update the “Last updated” date at the top of this policy
  • Notify you via in-app notification or email before the changes take effect

Your continued use of Our Space after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
